Profile Settings
Manage your account information, username, and profile details from the Profile Settings page.
Accessing Profile Settings
To access your profile settings:
- Log in to your RoleDeck account
- Go to your dashboard
- Click "Profile" in the sidebar navigation (or use the menu on mobile)
- You'll see your profile settings page with various options
Profile Information
Your profile settings allow you to manage:
- Display Name - Your name as it appears on your decks
- Email Address - Your account email (usually not changeable)
- Profile Picture - Avatar that appears in your account
- Bio/About - Brief description about yourself (if available)
If you signed up with Google, some of this information may have been automatically imported from your Google account.
Username and Handle
One of the most important settings is your username/handle. This determines:
- Your primary deck URL:
username.roledeck.io - All your deck URLs include this username
- How others can find and access your decks
⚠️ Important
- Usernames must be unique across all RoleDeck users
- Choose a username that's professional and easy to remember
- Usernames typically cannot be changed after creation (check your settings for availability)
- Use lowercase letters, numbers, and hyphens only
Updating Your Profile
To update your profile information:
- Navigate to Profile Settings
- Edit the fields you want to change
- Upload a new profile picture if desired
- Click "Save" or "Update" to save your changes
- Changes may take effect immediately or require a page refresh
Account Security
While profile settings primarily manage your display information, keep in mind:
- If you signed up with Google, your account is secured through Google's authentication
- If you signed up with email, your account is secured through magic link authentication
- Always use a secure email address for your account
- Keep your email account secure to prevent unauthorized access
Profile Picture
Your profile picture appears:
- In your account navigation (avatar icon)
- On your decks (depending on the template)
- When you're logged in to RoleDeck
Best practices for profile pictures:
- Use a professional headshot
- Ensure good lighting and clear visibility
- Use a square image (will be cropped to circular)
- Keep file size reasonable for fast loading
💡 Pro Tip
Keep your profile information up to date, especially your display name and profile picture. These details help create a professional first impression when employers view your decks.
